Antony Bugg-Levine, CEO of the Nonprofit Finance Fund to be awarded Annual CASE Leadership in Social Entrepreneurship Award
The Center for the Advancement of Social Entrepreneurship (CASE) at the Fuqua School of Business is excited to announce the 2011 Leadership in Social Entrepreneurship Award winner, Antony Bugg-Levine. Antony will be accepting this award and kicking off the CASE Initiative on Impact Investing Speaker Series on December 6th at 4pm in the Geneen Auditorium at Fuqua.
This is a rare opportunity for students, faculty, staff, and local community members to hear from one of the most influential and pioneering leaders in the impact investing field.
Antony’s experience in the field is unmatched. He recently left his post at the Rockefeller Foundation where he led the Foundation’s “Harnessing the Power of Impact Investing” initiative and oversaw its program-related investment portfolio. In this role, he helped Rockefeller become one of the most innovative and ground-breaking members of the impact investing community – granting and investing nearly $40 million in capacity builders like the Global Impact Investing Rating System (GIIRS), the Global Impact Investing Network (GIIN), and the Impact Investment Exchange in Asia, impact investing funds like E+Co, Root Capital and Acumen Fund, and intermediaries like Social Finance, who are developing new products to fund more effective social interventions.
Antony used his spare time while at Rockefeller to co-author, with Jed Emerson, the new definitive book on impact investing, Impact Investing: Transforming How We Make Money While Making a Difference(Wiley, 2011). This book, just released last month, is already educating field-builders, investors, funds, and students on the unique challenges and opportunities of this emerging industry.
In September 2011, Antony announced his decision to leave Rockefeller to join the Nonprofit Finance Fund (NFF), where he will assume the role of CEO. At NFF, he will continue developing the organization's leadership and position as one of the nation’s leading community development financial institutions (CDFIs), providing financing, consulting, and advocacy services to some of the most effective and inventive nonprofits in the US.
Prior to Rockefeller, Antony worked at TechnoServe, McKinsey & Company, and the South African Human Rights Commission – always pushing to find innovative solutions to society’s biggest problems. He is an associate adjunct professor in the Social Enterprise Program at the Columbia Business School, and lives in New Jersey with his wife, Ahadi.
