Summer Internships

MBA students often seek a way to make the summer between their first and second years meaningful — a chance to apply business skills and gain valuable business experience and training in the social sector. Since its inception, CASE has worked to provide financial assistance to students engaged in social sector internships over the summer. In 2003, with support from The Ewing Marion Kauffman Foundation of Kansas City, and 2004, CASE helped fund 12 social sector internships at organizations such as Center for Community Self Help, Common Good Ventures, KaBOOM!, PBS, Physicians for Peace, and Sustainable Jobs Development Corporation. Currently, the Social Impact Club is working closely with CASE to raise funds for 2005 and beyond. If you are interested in getting involved with these efforts, please contact David Gordon, Social Impact Club Treasurer.

Class of 1990 Nonprofit and Small Business Internship Award
The Class of 1990 established an endowment to provide assistance to current first year students who choose a summer internship with a nonprofit, public sector, or small-to-medium size firm. Awarded through a competitive application process, the total amount of available funds varies depending on the endowment earnings but has historically ranged between $7500-$13,000. In recent years, anywhere from 5-10 students have applied, with 1 to 3 recipients being named each year. A selection committee of relevant Fuqua staff members reviews applications and selects the award winners, with priority going to 1) Nonprofit 2) Public 3) Small-to-medium size firms. Should the selection committee decide to name more than one student to receive the award, the committee will determine the amount awarded per student.

All interested students who are pursuing or considering a position within an agency or firm in one of the three categories are encouraged to apply for this award. The application will consist of an essay describing the type of internship being pursued, community and Fuqua school involvement, and student’s career objectives. Specific details on the application process and deadlines will be distributed to students by the financial aid office in Feb/March, with award recipients being announced in May. The proceeds from the award will be disbursed in the fall semester following the summer internship as a credit to the student’s account in the Bursar’s office.

Full-Time Jobs
