Master of Management Studies: Duke Kunshan University Student Hannah Bradford

“I am impressed by my classmates’ compassion for others and dedication to bettering themselves. The structure of the MMS program inspires closeness and trust among the cohort despite knowing each other for a short time. I don’t doubt their willingness to lend a hand to any classmate in need. That is truly special.”

Why I Chose Fuqua

Attending Fuqua was an easy choice for me. I was looking for a program that provided foundational business knowledge, lasted one year, and had a China component. The MMS: DKU program checked all my boxes. I applied during the first round, so I had time to reach out to the admissions team and alumni before making a final decision. I felt supported and welcomed by everyone I spoke with at Fuqua and knew this would be an excellent fit for me.

Prior to Fuqua, I had no full-time work experience. However, as an undergrad, I had roles that shaped my interests and encouraged me to pursue an MMS. I worked as a Legal Clerk at GBKH, an Artificial Intelligence Research Intern at the US State Department, a Legislative Intern at the Texas House of Representatives, and on a research project involving financial regulations in China.

I will join Deloitte in Charlotte, NC., as a Risk and Financial Advisory Analyst within the Controls, Compliance, and Finance division. I attended coffee chats, worked with the career center, and reached out to MMS alumni on LinkedIn to prepare for full-time roles. Utilizing Fuqua's resources and network made the job hunt more enjoyable and successful.

5 Cocktail Bars to Visit in Durham

  1. The Roof at the Durham – is located on the seventh floor of the Durham Hotel, where you can enjoy dinner and a cocktail while watching the sunset.
  2. Kingfisher – located downtown in an “artful basement,” Kingfisher has unique cocktail options and lively décor. Make sure to get there early because it’s first-come, first-served!
  3. Corpse Reviver Bar & Lounge – is connected to the Durham Distillery, and most cocktails are made with in-house liquor. The distillery offers tours and tastings, making for a fun activity.
  4. Bar Virgile -- has seasonal offerings, plus a rotating drink and dinner menu. Definitely, a fantastic place to check out, but not when you’re in a rush, because there is often a long wait to be seated.
  5. Dram and Draught – is the newest of their three locations in the Raleigh/Durham area. They specialize in whiskey-based drinks, and often have live music and community events.
